About the Artist

"There are no paradoxes in the world; paradox only exists in language." -- John Daido Loori

Following a varied and colorful career in music and sound engineering, environmental studies, philosophy and science teaching, I began exhibiting my artwork in 2007. Mostly self taught, I have exhibited drawings and paintings in Berlin, Germany, New York City and Arizona.

Born and raised in Ohio, I received my B.S. in audio recording from the Ohio State University, followed by M.A. and Ph.D. in environmental education and the philosophy of education from New York University. I am a proud long-time resident of Brooklyn, New York.

My work explores and celebrates this singular, spectacular home we call Earth, and in particular those insentient lifeforms with which we intermingle, interdepend and reflect. My love of trees as well as other organic forms is immediately evident in my paintings. This subject matter excites me both for its real and symbolic significance as well as for its intrinsic formal interest. Themes of generation, procreation and the underlying creative forces that shape our universe are all explored through the medium of paint and brush.
